My name is Lisa Greene-Bonnett, and I am asking for some help for my cousin Kevin Greene and his wife Shannon. Kevin had a battle with his foot almost a year ago. He had gotten better and was able to go back to work until this flared back up again. This last go around he spent 21 days in the hospital at Pella Regional Hospital and it is like they did nothing for him. Apparently, they didn’t dig deep enough to treat for the right infection. Now it has gone into his good leg.
Many trips to ER and doctoring and it was not until they decided to go to Knoxville Hospital ER that they started to finally get some answers. By the time they got to Knoxville though his good leg was extremely swollen and dark. His blood pressure was super low as well. ER doctor was amazing! He immediately started IV fluids, did a ton of bloodwork, CT scans, X-rays and was really trying to get to the bottom of it. He then decided to transfer him to Des Moines to Methodist for MRI and the care he needed. Methodist has taken over and did more test. On Monday they drained an abscess and decided on Tuesday to take him into surgery. During surgery they made 3 incisions and doctor got out as much infection as they could and took 3 biopsies of the bone. Lots of prayers went up but unfortunately, we didn’t get the answered we had hoped for. The infection had spread to his bones in his good leg, and they have decided to amputate it. On top of all of this their refrigerator took a crap while Kevin was in Pella Hospital. When it rains it pours.
With Kevin not working much this last month and probably not going to be able to go back driving his truck for some time, if at all. It’s going to be hard for them to live on just Shannon’s income alone with all the doctor bills, replacing the refrigerator, and not to mention it is Christmas time too. Plus looking for help to install a ramp at their residence too and probably down the road a prosthetic leg. Please help me raise money to help pay for all of this. Even if it is not a lot every little bit helps. Also send lots of prayers as Kevin will have a new normal to adjust to after all of this. As we all know Kevin does not like to sit still!
Thank you
