Hello everyone, this is musician and educator Kevin Gray. In early February, I was diagnosed with Stage 4 colorectal cancer. For the past few weeks, I have tried to maintain a business-as-usual attitude for my family and students, but as I begin intensive treatments, I realize this is no longer possible. With the support of loved ones, I am determined to fight as hard as I can to win this battle and focus my energy on getting well again.

Unfortunately, this means my life as a musician and educator will be paused for the duration of my treatment. In the coming weeks, I will announce a plan to keep the studio open for my students who wish to continue with a substitute, but very qualified teacher in my Peoria studio. With your help, Gray Matter Drum Instruction will continue to serve musicians of all ages for as long as they want to learn the art and skills of drumming. This fundraiser will help with the costs of keeping the studio open, as well as my living and medical expenses during treatments.

I have been blessed to do what I love for a very long time and to see many of my students grow up to become talented musicians and wonderful human beings. I’m grateful to everyone who takes the time to contribute in any way or share my story. With thanks, hope, and love, the beat goes on. KG
