Support Kevin Gilley's Barbecue Sauce Dream

Hello everyone! My name is Kevin Gilley. I've been a member of the village of Saxapahaw for over a decade, and I've cooked for many people at the Saxapahaw General Store, The Eddy, and Reverence Farms Cafe. I'm starting this GoFundMe because I want to follow my dreams and open up my own barbecue sauce company. But first a little backstory...

28 months ago, I decided that it was time to give the life of drinking alcohol on a daily basis up. It was a problem for nearly a decade, and it destroyed many friendships and relationships along the way. My health was also in very poor shape. I fell on the floor of my parents' house and severely damaged my arthritic knees. I was bedridden for two months until I was finally able to get out of the house in a wheelchair to get to a doctor to see what was wrong. The doctors told me one of my knees was permanently shifted and I would have trouble walking for the rest of my life. While I was bedridden, I made the decision to put the bottle down and focus on renewing my mind, body, and spirit.

For the last almost two and a half years, my health has continued to improve daily, and my relationship with the Lord is the best it has ever been. I now have a loving girlfriend, and we plan on spending the rest of our lives together and growing a family. So, I figured now is the time to make this dream come true with help from you guys!

I love to barbecue and smoke meat, and of course the sauce that goes with it has to shine as well as the meat! Last year I was honored to take home the S.A.F.E. Holy Smokes inaugural barbecue competition first prize award. I've been thinking about starting this business ever since then, and I feel now is the time to get it started!
