Late this June, my beautiful kid, Kestrel MacNeille, age 23 (aka Gavin) suffered a terrible accident while riding their bike, arrived in the ambulance in a coma, suffered a TBI and several strokes, has undergone many surgeries to repair broken bones and repair internal injuries including their brain. They've been undergoing intense physical, speech and occupational therapy, but we are looking at them coming home this fall. Due to the TBI and strokes, Kestrel is currently still in need of 24 hour care. Like they keep saying at the hospital, it's not a race, it's a marathon. So we're looking at another year or so to full recovery, and will be desperately in need of all the support, financial and emotional that we can gather.
Thank you so much to those of you who donated to the previous fundraiser that was de-activated. Your contributions allowed me a safe, clean place to stay while visiting Kestrel in Burlington, and contributed to the installation of a first floor bathroom in preparation of Kestrel coming home. A big shout out to Homestead Builders for banging it out. I am eternally grateful.
Hugs,
Monica and Kestrel
