Hi, my name is Kerry and I am a first-generation college graduate and a passionate Biological Sciences major with a minor in Molecular and Cell Biology. I’m on a mission to work in healthcare because I believe in standing up for those who don’t always have the ability to advocate for themselves, whether that’s guiding patients through complex medical systems or providing compassionate care to vulnerable populations.

While I’m excited to take the next step in my career, I’m currently facing a major obstacle: I do not have a reliable way to get to work. I recently graduated a semester early and will begin working as a Registered Behavior Technician, where I will be helping children with developmental and mental disorders like autism and ADHD. This opportunity is a huge responsibility, and it’s vital that I can get to work without the added stress of unreliable transportation.

I have worked incredibly hard to get to this point. In addition to my academic achievements, which include being accepted into the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences for Fall 2025, I’ve also spent three summers working as a senior summer camp counselor and gained patient care experience as a patient care technician. These roles have given me immense responsibility and prepared me for the work I will be doing in the healthcare field right now.

Overcoming my many obstacles and striving toward my goals has been a journey of persistence. As a first-generation student and one of the few Black individuals pursuing a career in healthcare, I know that my success is not just my own—it’s a beacon of hope for others from backgrounds like mine. I’m proud to be part of the 5% of medical professionals who come from low-income families, and I want to inspire others to break through these barriers as well.

This car will be key to ensuring I can fulfill my responsibilities and reach my full potential. Without it, I’m afraid I won’t be able to keep up with the demands of my job or continue my education without unnecessary setbacks. Your support in helping me raise funds for a car will enable me to focus on my future without the stress of transportation issues holding me back.

Without a car, I spend a significant amount of time and money trying to get to work, and it’s becoming unsustainable. I’m asking for help to raise funds so I can purchase a car and get to work more reliably. Having my own car will allow me to grow in my career, save time, and build a stable future for myself. Growing up low income this has been extremely important for me.

I’m hoping to raise $4000, which will go directly towards purchasing a used car. Every donation, no matter how small, brings me one step closer to my goal. Any extra funds will go toward fees, taxes, insurance, maintenance and long-term savings. I want to make sure I can keep my job, continue growing, and not have to worry about missing shifts because of transportation issues.
