Support Kerry's Family After Devastating Storm

On September 26, 2024, Hurricane Helene made landfall as a Category 4 hurricane on the East Coast. This epic storm had a devastating impact. For so many, lives were changed forever.

This massive storm spanned approximately 500 miles and impacted multiple states including FL, SC, NC, GA, TN, and parts of VA. The devastation of these communities was vast, particularly in the hills of the Appalachian Mountains and Tennessee.

So many hold deep and fond memories of the hills of Western North Carolina. It may be a place you have lived and grew up. Even more, it may have been your home where many generations have always resided. It may have been a place you vacationed as a child. Maybe it was a place you got away for quiet and calm weekends to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. It is a majestic and heavenly place.

Western NC was absolutely decimated by this storm, leaving countless residents without their homes and businesses. Many have lost their families, children, pets, precious memories and so many things they hold dear. Countless individuals were stranded on mountaintops with nowhere to go. Highways were washed away, various dams broke and according to a source at the NC DOT, it is estimated that 75 bridges collapsed. Many towns that once were are no more.

People were left without power, food, safe drinking water, and were left in highly hazardous conditions such that this became a task of survival. Sadly, many did not survive. This has been referenced as a once in a thousand year storm.

Kerry Sammon and her two children were significantly impacted by this storm, as so many were. They love their sweet town of Asheville, NC and are crushed at the devastation. Kerry is the kindest and most humble person that I know. She has faced having to completely reassemble and re-establish life for herself and her children so they can regain some sense of normalcy. Many are asking for ways to help support Kerry. We are beginning with this GoFundMe. While we do not know the specific needs yet (as there are many, many variables), this GoFundMe will go 100% to Kerry to meet the financial needs of Kerry and her family.

The organizer of this fundraiser is Tracy Brenton of Hampstead, NC. Funds will be used for housing, possible moving expenses and the many needed supplies needed to make Kerry and her family whole again.
