Help Keri Heal After Major Surgery
Hi friends and kind-hearted strangers,
We’re reaching out on behalf of our beautiful friend Keri, who is preparing to undergo a major abdominal surgery this June. This procedure is medically necessary and will involve a long, complex recovery period—both physically and financially.
Keri was born with a rare congenital condition called tethered cord syndrome, a form of spina bifida. Sadly, it wasn’t discovered until adulthood, after years of unexplained pain and progressive symptoms. By the time it was diagnosed, it had already caused severe nerve damage to her lower body. Her upcoming surgery is a result of that damage and is meant to restore function and preserve her quality of life. It’s not a quick fix—it’s a life-changing procedure that comes after a long journey of struggle, strength, and perseverance.
Keri will need to stay in Salt Lake City, Utah, for one month following surgery to remain under the care of her specialist team. This extended stay comes with significant expenses for lodging, transportation, medical supplies, and daily care. To be by her side throughout recovery, her husband Ryan will be with her the entire month, which means neither of them will be able to work during this time.
If you know Keri, you know she’s one of the most generous, loyal, and strong women around. She’s been through so much, yet she continues to give so much of herself to others—offering support, kindness, and understanding even in her own times of struggle. Now, it’s our turn to show up for her.
How Your Support Will Help:
Temporary housing near the hospital
Medical supplies not covered by insurance
Post-operative care costs
Transportation and travel expenses
Groceries and essentials during recovery
Any amount helps, no matter how small. And if you’re not in a position to give, please consider sharing this page with others who may be able to help. Keri and Ryan are deeply grateful for the love and support of their community—they’re not ones to ask for help lightly, so we’re stepping in to ask on their behalf.
Let’s help lift the weight off their shoulders so they can focus on healing.
With gratitude,
Team Keri
