Life After Amputation: Support Kenyon & His Family
Donation protected
We are reaching out to Kenyon Wells' friends and family to rally around him and support through his long recovery! We appreciate all the love and well wishes we have received for Kenyon, his wife Melissa, and four young children over the past several weeks.
Kenyon was taken to hospital by ambulance at the end of June after going into septic shock, causing all his organs to fail. We are grateful for the doctors and nurses who worked with him, especially that first week. They were able to keep him alive. It turns out the sepsis was caused by strep infection.
Since then, Kenyon has had multiple surgeries. He fought hard to stay alive while all this happened. Unfortunately due to the severity of the septic shock, blood stopped flowing to his hands and feet. Both feet had to be amputated. His left hand had to be amputated. We are still in a "wait and see" with the right hand. He had a wound on his leg where necrosis occurred and therefore a portion of his leg had to be removed and continues to be treated.
Kenyon was moved to a rehab center in mid-August to strengthen his body as he heals from the amputations and his leg wound. Due to his current condition, he is being moved to a different rehab in DC. Unfortunately, this will make visits from Melissa and the children more difficult but the doctors feel this is the level of care he needs.
We are rushing to prepare his home for his return in case that happens sooner rather than later. This includes installing an elevator, ramps, and widening doorways. His wheelchair may not be ready for another 2-4 months which will make his return extra difficult. We are still waiting on the timeline for his fitting for prosthetics, but his amputation and leg wounds will need to be fully recovered first.
It is unclear when Kenyon will be able to return to work. Melissa is continuing round-the-clock care of Kenyon and their four children while managing the loss of income. Any support during this distressing time would help as they navigate their uncertain future.

This has been an unimaginable crisis, but it is at times like these that we are reminded how much we are loved and supported by others. Thank you for being here for the Wells family.
