On Friday, March 27th, Kenwood Middle School students and teachers were traveling to Jackson, Tennessee for a STEM program event when their school bus was involved in a tragic accident. The accident took the lives of two students and critically injured several others, including teachers, leaving families and staff facing unexpected loss and hardship.
The families and teachers affected are now carrying a financial burden they never expected. The money raised will be used for funeral expenses, medical expenses, and to help cover the burden of food and shelter while families and teachers care for their loved ones or recover in the hospital. Every donation, no matter the size, will help ease the stress these families and staff are experiencing as they focus on healing and supporting each other.
We hope this GoFundMe will raise enough to help all of the families and teachers affected. Any support you can give will make a difference during this difficult time. Thank you for standing with our community and showing these families and teachers they are not alone.
I have partnered with Robin Burton, The Executive Director of the CMC Education Foundation to ensure that all students and staff that was on the bus will receive an equal amount of disbursement. Every penny will be deposited into the account that CMC Education Foundation has set up and distributed through them. CMC Education Foundation will divide all funds equally among every student, teacher, and staff member who was on the bus, using the school's official records to confirm the recipient list.
I started this fundraiser the morning after the accident. I felt compelled to help. I have a daughter in 8th grade at Kenwood Middle and twins boys that are seniors at Kenwood High School. The tears in my daughters eyes after learning she lost friends, have friends in surgery, and friends that have a long road to recovery, further solidified to me that quick action is needed for the families.
