Support Kensley Rae’s Fight and Future on Hospice

Summer woke up at 6am on September 20th with the best confirmation a girl can receive. Positive! You’re pregnant! - And not only are you pregnant, but with a baby girl. A true Godsend.

On May 11th, 2024 at 6:28am Kemp and Summer welcomed their perfect baby girl, with a name as beautiful as she is, our sweet Kensley Rae. Weighing 4lbs and 9oz, 15 inches long! She spent a perfect first day of life with her mama, daddy, and brother Keegan. That first day I believe everyone will be thankful for.

Shortly after, Kensley was transferred to a nearby hospital that has an excellent NICU with a diagnosis of Cartilage Hair Hypoplasia, Total Colonic Hirschprungs Disease, SCID (severe combined immunodeficiency), and Omenn Syndrome.
Kensley has had a total of 6 surgeries. 4 on her belly, and 2 for a central line placement. She’s had a spinal tap awake and unmedicated, and has not been able to feed since the day she was born. Most recently she was on a ventilator for 18 days. It has been 107 days in the NICU and counting.

Most babies with SCID undergo a bone marrow transplant at the age of 1 to replace their bad immune system with a good one. Kensley’s immune system is so weak that her immunologist suggested a bone marrow transplant much sooner than later. With her being so little and so young, she was given a 50-60% chance of surviving the transplant. Although scared, her parents were willing to do whatever it took to make sure their baby got the medical care she needed. After Kensley’s last emergency surgery on her belly, things have gone downhill very fast. It has been near impossible for her little body to heal from all the surgeries she has endured. With not many options left to help Kensley, her parents and doctors have come together and agreed that bringing Kensley home on comfort care would be the best quality they could give her.

This is Kensley’s story. She is strong. She is beautiful. She is a fighter.

And so is her mama and daddy, who have selflessly given up so much to be with her every step of the way.

The point of this GoFundMe is to help Kemp and Summer raise money to help with medical expenses and any other incidentals they may have during this time and the future. They are currently going back and forth over an hour away daily to see Kensley in the NICU, and are preparing to take Kensley home in the near future to continue her life surrounded by the people who love her the most. On top of having a sweet boy at home who also requires their attention.

My goal is to help ease any financial burden so they can focus solely on their baby girl and son, and take on the unknown as best as possible.

Thank you for all donations, shares, and prayers!

“Though she be but little, she is FIERCE!”
