Support Ken's Legacy: Awareness & Funeral Fund
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Tim Shea and I'm setting up this fund in honor of my older Brother Ken. He lived with my wife Kathy and I for over 35 years. He enjoyed riding his bike, working out, swimming and going to the Beach.
Ken didn't smoke or drink, but he did like his Latte coffee!
He passed away suddenly on March 13, 2024, of a heart attack in his bedroom. I gave him C.P.R. for as long as I could until the Paramedics showed, but it was too late.
I know I may sound Bias, but he was the most awesome brother anyone could ever have. He was my older brother, but we were as my wife said Irish twins, inseparable no matter what. Ken would NEVER turn down someone who needed any help ever, and watched over me all his life as I did him. He was my ROCK and the pain of losing him is just immense, even worse than when we buried our Dad almost 50 years ago and Mom almost 30 years ago.
*The Fund portion is going to be used for his Funeral expenses and related final costs. Like most people his age, 67 he never prepared properly with life Insurance. No one thinks they will pass so young.
*The memorial portion is being set up in Ken's name, to help make awareness to people through seminars, mailing flyers and travelling to medical facilities to educate about the dangers of Doctors and the Prescriptions they prescribe for all of us. Also, about other options like so many natural treatments available than taking prescription drugs. We all know someone and maybe in your own family that you see so many bottles of medication on their nightstand or kitchen counter and wonder why.
Doctors hand out prescription drugs to us without advising of the serious and sometimes fatal side effects they have. I was in the Medical Field for a long time and can tell you, most all of the doctors I met, do not know the side effects of drugs they hand out. I met way too many people who died from side effects of these drugs, needlessly.
I found out from his doctor after he died, that Kens last few days were absolutely horrible, as a result of the medication. He said, Ken had called him in a video call about 48 hours before his death, absolutely in panic and crying like nothing else, saying everything is his fault, and he can't take it anymore. I need help. I can tell you after knowing Ken for 66 years if he was crying it was really bad.
The Doctor said it was the WORST call he had seen a Patient call in on. Why did you not call for an Ambulance which is Medical Protocol? Sounds like a 911 call for "HELP" to me. He would be alive today if you did. The doctor prescribed Ken Gabapentin for Neuropathy. The problem with Gabapentin is terrible prescription drug that it has many bad side effects, severe depression, severe reparatory depression, severe hypertension, heart arrythmia, sleep disorders, seizures, disorientation just to name a few. I asked the Doctor if he knew the side effects for Gabapentin and he said NO. He said he told him he would get him an appointment for a week away to see him and send him a Sedative right away, because his nerves were extremely elevated, and he was depressed. I asked what sedative he ordered because he never got it.
I asked further did you ever follow up the script or call him later that day to see if he was ok? He said "NOPE"!! Ken waited and waited for the medication, that never came, the Ambulance that never came, and his heart gave out waiting.
I can't get him back, but together with your help maybe we can make sure no one goes through the pain and anguish that my brother went through and save some lives.
Ken didn't deserve what the doctor did, and no one should. As I see it, even if we together can save one life it's all worth it. Ken gave of himself in one form or another to others in need all his life, and we are going to give back to others in his HONOR.
Many of you knew Ken and I from Aurora High School in Ohio. Ken's many workplaces and gatherings.
As you can imagine this has been a very traumatic and emotional experience and we are reaching out to everyone asking for your help.
We are trying to get the Funeral expenses and Memorial funded right away and begin the outreach project.
