I have worked hard my whole life and have never been someone who asks much of others. I never imagined I would find myself in this position, but here we are.
As many of you know, my son Kenny underwent foot surgery in late December. What was expected to be a 7–10 day hospital stay turned into a 27-day ordeal due to serious complications that required an additional, unplanned surgery. His care took place in Washington, D.C., and the frequent travel during his hospitalization and for follow-up appointments has been incredibly challenging.
We were grateful when Kenny was finally able to return home, where he lives locally with his father. Unfortunately, shortly after the snow and ice hit. While trying to clear a safe path in case they needed to leave the house, Kenny’s father fell and is now hospitalized himself.
At this time, Kenny has no income coming in. He has not been cleared to return to work, and there is no estimated return date, as his recovery is very delicate and must be managed day by day. On top of everyday living expenses, medical bills have begun to arrive, including a recent $2,200 hospital bill, with many more expected.
Any plans my husband and I had to help financially came to an abrupt halt when my husband, Steve, lost his job last week due to company cutbacks. We are facing more challenges than we ever anticipated, and it feels so overwhelming.
I never thought I would need to do something like this, and I didn’t even know how to set up a GoFundMe — a friend encouraged me and helped me take this step. Any amount, no matter how small, would help Kenny get through this incredibly emotional and financially difficult time.
Please do not feel bad if you are unable to contribute. Your prayers, kind thoughts, and sharing of this fundraiser are deeply appreciated.
Thank you for your consideration, support, and compassion.
Bless you all.
