Help Support Kenny's Fight Against Glioblastoma
Hi everyone,
I’m creating this GoFundMe for my brother, Kenny. He is not asking for any donations himself, but many of you have reached out asking how you can help, so I’m organizing this fundraiser to support him during this challenging time.
Kenny has been dealing with a health issue that began suddenly on Tuesday, April 23rd. Initially thought to be a major stroke, it was later found to be a brain tumor on the left side of his brain. After several days in the ICU and numerous tests, Kenny was informed that surgery wasn't an option due to the tumor's size and location. A brain biopsy later revealed a diagnosis of Grade 4 Glioblastoma.
Despite this daunting news, Kenny has faced it head-on. After seeking a second opinion, Dr. Baskaya, a neurosurgeon at UW Madison, successfully performed a "wide resection" surgery on June 24th, removing as much of the tumor as possible while minimizing the risk of permanent damage. Kenny has been recovering at home since June 27th and is undergoing a 6-week course of chemotherapy and radiation.
Currently, Kenny and his family are working on getting him accepted into clinical trials as the next step in his treatment journey. These trials often require travel to facilities far out of state, which may involve significant travel and lodging expenses.
Kenny has been blessed with an incredibly strong support system, with his family standing firmly by his side every step of the way. His son, Cole, and daughter, Courtney, have been his rock throughout this journey—showing unwavering love, strength, and commitment to helping him fight with everything they have. Their dedication to being there for their dad, through every high and low, is a true testament to the love and resilience that defines their family.
Kenny is determined to face this battle with all the strength he can muster, and he is grateful for the love, prayers, and support he has received so far. Your continuous positive messages and prayers are greatly appreciated as he navigates this difficult journey.
While Kenny isn't asking for financial help, any contributions made will go towards his medical expenses, potential travel, and lodging if he is accepted into any clinical trials. If there are any funds left unused, they will be donated to cancer research or support services to help others facing similar battles.
Though we don't have a benefit planned right now, Kenny would love to get out and see everyone when he’s feeling up for it. We may organize something in the future, so stay tuned!
Let’s show our support and help Kenny continue to be #SchmidtStrong and keep #KickingCancersAss!
Thank you for your support in any form, whether it be a donation, a prayer, or simply sharing this page. Every bit helps in making this journey a bit more manageable for Kenny and his family.
