On August 23, 2026, Kenny Green had his life abruptly and unfairly cut short. At approximately 4:30 p.m. on a warm Sunday afternoon, Kenny was driving his car—affectionately called “Blueberry”—through his apartment complex when it was abruptly struck by an electrical pole. A day that began so ordinarily quickly took a tragic turn, leaving a gaping hole in the hearts of his life partner, Yariset Rodriguez, and their three-year-old daughter.
Kenny knew early on that he wanted to be a father, and his daughter was the greatest joy of his life. Every day he was driven by the love he had for his girls: his daughter, his partner, and his mother. This tragic event has left them without their guiding light, north star, and favorite person in the world. His absence from their lives has created a wound so profound it will never fully heal.
Split between his native New Jersey and Minnesota, he traveled back and forth regularly to care for his mother and late grandmother while supporting his family in the Twin Cities. In addition to being the rock of his immediate family, he was also considered home to many of his friends. What can only be described as the Kenny-effect left anyone in his vicinity feeling truly cared for, seen, and welcomed. His chosen family surpassed state lines, cultural backgrounds, and income statuses.
Kenny was more than just a beautiful soul. He was a man of unwavering faith that preached compassion and spread love and generosity to anyone who had the pleasure of interacting with him. Wise beyond his years, he offered countless humble teachings and words of wisdom to his loved ones. He was the grounding comfort you wish for during a storm. While he was unfairly taken from this physical world, his legacy will live on through the people that loved him.
He was a proud New Jersey native and musical enthusiast. He was a graduate of St. Benedict’s Preparatory School and an alumnus of Saint John’s University. He will be remembered as a loving father, caring son, best friend, brother, and overall a wonderful person.
We've set up this fundraiser on behalf of Yariset and their beautiful daughter. The funds will be used for rent, food, travel needs and funeral expenses as they attempt to heal and find closure from this horrific tragedy. We will send the funds directly to Yariset’s bank account, who has authorized the fundraiser on their behalf.
