About a week ago, my life changed in an instant. I was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) – a diagnosis that came out of nowhere and surprised me and my entire family.

Like many people, I never imagined facing a serious illness at such a young age, let alone while trying to balance work, a new family, and the rest of life. I’m now undergoing intensive testing, beginning treatment, and adjusting to the physical, emotional, and financial challenges that come with this diagnosis. The road ahead is uncertain, but we are doing everything we can to stay strong and focused on recovery.

As anyone who has faced a serious illness knows, the costs quickly add up – insurance deductibles, copays, medications, hospital visits, specialist appointments, and other unexpected expenses. I’m reaching out for help because even with insurance, the burden is too much to carry alone.

To add to the complexity, Melissa and I just welcomed our first child – our baby boy, Wyatt – six weeks ago. While this should be one of the most joyful and exciting times of our lives, we now find ourselves juggling the demands of new parenthood and navigating a medical crisis we never saw coming.
