Support Kenny Donato's Stroke Recovery Journey

Hi! My name is Vicky Underwood. The reason for this GoFundMe is to help a dear family. Kenny and Betty Jo Donato are in need of help for what could possibly be a long road ahead. When I say they’ve been through it that would be an understatement. Please read the following and donate if you can. This is a little bit of the struggle they’ve both been through over the years.

Kenny was diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer in 2017. He was given 6 months. They took out his colon, rectum and 54 lymph nodes.

He had several surgeries after that and took chemo plus radiation.

In 2013 WVU sent him to Cleveland Clinic for a massive hernia. Kenny was in the hospital 15 days. Cleveland Clinic did surgery to repair. I can tell you myself there have been many trips to Cleveland Clinic. Betty Jo (wife) has never left his side during all of this. Their faith in God has played a major role in recovery, coping and never giving up. It’s definitely been a journey for them both.

Here’s the latest: Kenny had a massive left side stroke on 7-9-24. He was flown by Health Net to CAMC General. He had a tear in his carotid artery and a blood clot that was so large it required surgery. 1/2 of the left side of his brain is damaged, no use of his right side at all and no speech. He has a long journey ahead but with his faith and determination they are hopeful. He may never regain his speech or the use of his right side. Betty Jo is by his side and he has responded a little for her when doctors and nurses could get nothing from him. This is a testament to their love and devotion to one another and inspiring to all that know and love them.
