Hello and thank you for taking the time and energy to support our sweet Kennedy. On the evening of November 12th, Kennedy and her boyfriend were leaving Florence for a much anticipated mini road trip to Buc-ee’s in Athens. Suddenly, a vehicle pulled out from the median in front of them on the highway and caused their wreck. This resulted in her being air lifted to Huntsville Hospital Trauma Center an hour and a half away with internal bleeding and multiple abdominal injuries resulting in multiple emergency surgeries (small bowel resection - due to ruptured intestines, appendectomy, hemiectomy significant adipose tissue damage, leaving her with a 10” vertical scar and 3 large, deep abdominal wound scars) and an ICU / week long hospital visit and a wound vac for 3 abdominal wounds.
After being discharged there was a second med flight from Helen Keller Hospital back to Huntsville Hospital and 3 additional ER visits during her 30 day recovery. Kennedy had to live with her parents during her recovery for daily care (bathroom, shower, and dressing) and twice a day wet to dry dressings to heal 3 deep abdominal wounds.
In addition to the physical and emotional trauma and recovery she endured through no fault of her own, she now has significant medical bills because of it.
We are thankful every day that she survived this crash and the surgeries that followed. Although she continues to receive financial support from her parents, she's unable to work and is uninsured. At only 22, Kennedy now has massive medical bills. In addition, she continues to have monthly bills despite work restrictions per doctor’s orders for the next 4 months due to physical limitations.
The goal is set for 4 months of living expenses. If you feel it on your heart to help, please donate here for Kennedy.
