Support Kendra with Cash’s Medical Journey

Hi! My name is Stephanie and I’m fundraising for an amazing teenager fighting for a future on the other side of a health crisis.

My cousin Kendra in Maryville, TN needs some support while doing all she can for her eldest son, Cash. In July their world stopped. Cash was diagnosed with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension. He was the walking picture of perfect health. A football player, fisherman, on the go typical 16 year old.

This summer they just thought he was dehydrated. Little did they know the terrible scary road Cash and his family would be facing. He is currently on medications and oxygen prescribed by a wonderful team of doctors all the way out at Vanderbilt in Nashville, TN. The specialists are doing their best to treat his condition, but it is more likely he is facing a double lung transplant. The family’s lives have been turned upside down pursuing life saving treatment across the very wide state of Tennessee. This has further upended a teenagers life when he should be enjoying football games and dances while preparing for college.

Cash is one of the kindest, sweetest, compassionate kids. As a parent I can’t imagine what Kendra is battling while still working and caring for her younger son as a single mom. This is one of the hardest things she has had to deal with. It is not just the stress and cost of medical care. It is missing work, car maintenance, gas, hotels, etc. It is being strong when you’re exhausted and scared. No child, pre-teen or teenager should be handed this life threatening diagnosis. Cash wants to work, go to school, and work on his 4Runner, but gets so tired he can’t do all of the things he loves.

My mom, Cash’s great aunt, has a fundraiser to help find a cure for Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension. I am putting together a fundraiser to support Kendra so she can spend her energy on caring for Cash and his little brother Riley and not worry about how she is going to afford to get Cash to his next appointment 200 miles away.
