Hello, my name is Kendra. I am a mother of three and a grandmother of two—a girl aged 7 and a boy aged 4. I have taken on the full-time responsibility of raising my grandchildren as my own, and they have been in my care full-time since March of 2022. When I first made this decision, I didn’t know all that I would be up against, but I have always been a very involved grandparent since they were born. I am the only living grandmother they have, as their maternal grandmother passed away in July 2021, right before my grandson was born. Both grandfathers are living but are not involved with the children. Their mom and dad are both living, but neither of them help with the care of the children. Whenever I ask, I’m always told “I can’t do it,” or there’s always an excuse when it comes to the children. The parents do not visit regularly and show very little interest. Neither mom nor dad can provide adequate care or meet the basic needs for the children.

Since I do not have any involvement from DCS or any other outside agency, it is solely my responsibility to cover the cost completely. Anything will help and I would greatly appreciate any support given to us at this time. Thank you for taking the time to read a little bit about our story.
