Support Kendall's Healing After Being Hit By Car

Hello friends, family, and kind strangers,

My name is Jonathan, and I'm reaching out for urgent help for my dad, Kendall Fudge, a 63-year-old loving grandfather, active community member, dedicated drummer for multiple local bands, and a pillar of our family. On July 23, 2025, while on his morning walk, Dad was hit by a car at low speed and knocked into a curb, suffering a severe head injury. He was airlifted to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa, Florida, where doctors diagnosed him with a hairline skull fracture, bilateral brain bleeds, and a neck fracture.

Dad underwent successful neck surgery on July 25, 2025, and was extubated shortly after. He's opened his eyes, shown some movement, and even assisted with suctioning before extubation – all positive signs. However, he's showing signs of global aphasia, making communication challenging, likely from the brain bleeds. No seizures have occurred, and his latest CT scans show stability, but recovery will be a long road. Known for his diligent efforts to give back to the community and his active role in our church, Dad’s spirit and contributions inspire us to fight for his recovery.

The next critical step is intensive rehabilitation to regain speech, mobility, and independence. Rehab must be paid for upfront, and a 30-day program is $1,000 per day. He will require 30 - 90 days to heal. The sooner we start, the better his chances for full recovery. Early intervention is key to overcoming aphasia and other TBI effects. Dad has no insurance, and his care exceeds most typical Florida auto policy coverages.
