Dear friends, family, and fellow animal lovers,
It breaks my heart to let everyone know that my fur baby Kenai was recently diagnosed with stage 4 Lymphoma. Within the past few months, Kenai’s weight has dropped dramatically, as well as his energy level. ( Loss of 23lbs )
On March 3rd, his left lymph node swelled up to the size of a golf ball, and he was refusing food. He was barely moving from his bed.
He was taken to his veterinarian where he underwent a lymph node cytology, which tested positive for Lymphoma.
We got referred to Blue Pearl Specialty Clinic for more in-depth diagnostics, where we found out he is in stage 4(a) of B cell Lymphoproliferative disease. His spleen was enlarged, and his liver was enlarged with rounded edges. Flow cytometric analysis revealed that the majority of the cells were medium- to large-sized CD21 lymphocytes.
We immediately started Prednisone to help his quality of life. While Prednisone's effects are usually short-lived with a survival time of 1-3 months, the plan is to start UW Madison Chemotherapy as it has the greatest response rate of 90% and a median survival time of 12-18 months (with 25% of dogs living 2+ years). It will be a weekly cycle for the first 9 weeks, then every other week for the next 6 months.
We will NOT lose hope! Kenai is a strong boy, and I know he will beat this! Not seeing a smile on his face is the saddest thing. Anyone who knows Kenai knows he is the sweetest dog that loves everyone that comes into his life.
If anyone would love to schedule a doggy playdate or would love to meet Kenai, please feel free to contact me. He loves other doggies; it would make him happy!
We need all the thoughts and prayers!
1st Chemotherapy appointment scheduled for 3/31/2025
All donations will go directly to Kenai’s chemotherapy.
Please help save my best friend
