Kelsey a loving wife and mother and poet, inspired by her daily work as a transplant social worker, made the decision to become an altruistic living liver donor (AKA she hoped to donate a part of her liver to someone in need). During the screening process, which included MRI and CT scans, doctors identified a large mass on her left kidney.

At the recommendation of her oncologist, Kelsey is having her kidney/mass removed on June 12. We are hopeful the kidney/mass removal will resolve the issue; however, if the cancer has spread then Kelsey will likely need chemotherapy.

I'm sure many of you reading this have known Kelsey longer than me, so you already know her caring and loving spirit and quick wit and humor. Kelsey's desire to help others, as her doctor said, probably saved her life.

If everything goes as planned then Kelsey will be on leave from work to heal for six weeks. During this time, Kelsey will only receive 60% of her salary, which is not enough money to cover the expenses of medical care, a mortgage, childcare, etc. For that reason, I've launched this GoFundMe.
