Kelsey is my dear friend and fellow nurse, and she’s facing one of the toughest battles of her life. Not long ago, she noticed a painful lump in her breast. After many tests including mammogram, ultrasound guided biopsy, MRI and PET scan, she received the devastating news that she has stage IIIA invasive ductal carcinoma of the right breast. She will require an intense regimen of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, double mastectomy, and radiation.
Kelsey is only 28 years old, but she’s already accomplished so much. She works full time at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center’s Emergency Department, where we met over a year ago. She’s also in school to become a Family Nurse Practitioner, and she’s deeply involved in her workplace, chairing two committees (PRIDE and unit council). In her free time, she loves crafting—embroidery, cross stitch, painting, beading, and more. Now, her whole world has to pause so she can focus on fighting this cancer, all while still facing rent, bills, student loans, and daily expenses.
Let's help Kels beat this and get her back to doing the things that she loves! Anything you can give to support her financially during this time is so very appreciated. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
