On May 3, 2025, my dear friend Kelsey lost her mom to an aggressive autoimmune disorder called Goodpasture Syndrome. Her mother had been fighting this disease since 2018—just one year after Kelsey lost her father.

Kelsey’s mom had been on dialysis for 6.5 years after being diagnosed. This most recent loss isn’t just devastating, but has taken an emotional and financial toll.

Since her mom’s passing, Kelsey had had to make a heartbreaking decision to put down her childhood dog, while also taking on full responsibility for her mom’s home, belongings, and beloved cat. She needs to travel back and forth from Arkansas to Oklahoma to handle her mom’s affairs and clean out the house—yet her car needs repairs just to make the trip, and she’s currently using a rental car that a friend kindly paid for, but she hopes to repay.

She’s also trying to make her mom’s house livable again by replacing the flooring so it can be rented out, her only chance of keeping it. Meanwhile, she’s struggling to cover lot rent and utilities on the property, on top of her own rent, food, and bills despite having two part-time jobs. To make matters worse, she hasn’t been able to afford a proper funeral or memorial service for her mom.

Kelsey is doing everything she can, but the financial pressure and emotional weight are just too much to carry alone. Your donation will help cover these urgent expenses and, more importantly, give her the time and space to grieve, recover, and rebuild her life after such unimaginable loss.
