Hi everyone,
I’m making this post to support someone who means so much to me and to many others.
Today, my close friend and coworker Kelsey experienced a devastating house fire. When she left work during her lunch break and arrived home, she was met with fire trucks surrounding her house. Tragically, the home was a total loss, and she lost everything inside.
Even more heartbreaking, she also lost her two beloved cats, Smokey and Cheema. Smokey was almost two years old and Cheema was almost one. They were more than just pets to her. They were her companions and her comfort, especially as she was beginning a fresh start in life. Anyone who knows Kelsey knows how much she loved those babies and how much joy they brought into her life.
What makes this even harder is that just this morning at work, we were doing what we always do—laughing, joking, and talking about life, including her cats. None of us could have imagined that when she went home for lunch, she would arrive to find her house enveloped in smoke and everything she owned gone.
Many of the things she had in her home were items she had collected and held onto for years. In a matter of moments, she lost not only her home and belongings, but also the two companions who meant so much to her.
Kelsey is one of the most genuinely kind and selfless people I know. When I first moved to Lake Charles, she was one of the first people who stepped in to make me feel welcome. She showed me the ropes, helped me settle in, and made sure I felt at home during a time when everything was new to me. She truly became like a big sister to me, and I will always be grateful for the kindness she showed.
She’s the type of person who would give the shirt off her back to help someone else. She’s always willing to listen, support others, and go above and beyond in the most thoughtful ways.
Right now, she is facing an unimaginable loss, and the least I can do is help get the ball rolling by creating this fundraiser so we can all come together and support her as she begins the long process of rebuilding.
Funds raised will go toward helping Kelsey secure stable housing again and begin replacing the many things she lost in the fire. This includes clothing, personal necessities, basic household essentials, furniture, and future appliances she will need as she rebuilds her home and starts over.
If you are able to donate, share this post, or keep her in your thoughts and prayers, it would mean so much. If you wish to donate material items, please message me directly.
Any support, no matter how small, will help remind Kelsey that she is not alone and that her community is standing beside her during this incredibly difficult time.
Thank you all for helping surround her with love and support. ❤️
