Support Kelly's Story with a Fence
Donation protected
Hey everyone! My name is Clarissa. In 2022, a wonderful family moved in next door and that was when I met my new best friend, Beth, her wonderful mom, Kelly, and Beth’s 2 awesome kids, Erica and Hunter. Unfortunately, in the summer of 2024, Kelly received a devastating diagnosis of cancer. In true Kelly nature, she has opted to fight hard and lean on the strength and support of her loved ones and of her Lord. When I think of people that have supported Kelly, the word “rock” comes to mind, but I don’t think that is sufficient to describe how supportive and caring Beth has been for her mother during this time. Maybe “diamond” would be more fitting, as she has been unfailing and persistent in supporting her mom in any way she can, despite being a single mom to two kids herself and a new homeowner. Beth even took a new job recently with better hours to ensure she could maximize the time she is there for her mom.
One way that has been hard for Beth to support her mom has been in regard to their dogs and not having a fenced-in backyard. Our beautiful street used to be the pinnacle of a golfer’s dream, backing up to hole 7 of Friendswood Country Club! For years now, it has sat undeveloped since the course closed, and this year, as a new builder begins their construction, a playground has been put in behind our homes. While we are grateful to not have homes and fences suddenly sprout up behind our homes, the new walking trail and playground have brought unexpected foot traffic. This new presence behind our homes has resulted in it being very difficult for Kelly to take her precious little support dogs, Buster and Mia, outside. These dogs, which keep her company through her little victories and also through her debilitating days, sometimes run off in the excitement of seeing people. While Kelly and Beth thought that this might be manageable, it became clear about a month ago that it no longer was when Kelly fell in the backyard and required an emergency room visit. Now, as she has begun her second cycle of chemotherapy and Beth expects the harder days to be more frequent, it has become obvious that Kelly needs a fence!!!
While Beth and Kelly may be too humble to ask, as Beth’s best friend (and a grateful occasional recipient of Kelly’s incredible baking skills), I am asking for all your support in helping this wonderful family in this immense time of need. I know that they will appreciate anything any one of you can give in order to make sure this fence a reality and give Kelly some peace ❤️
