Kelly — a devoted public middle school teacher for over 20 years — has spent her entire career pouring her heart into helping children learn, grow, and feel seen. Now, she’s the one who needs a community around her.

What began as a routine medical concern quickly turned into something far more serious. Doctors discovered a softball-sized tumor in Kelly’s abdomen, requiring urgent surgery. While the procedure removed the tumor, complications arose that no one could have prepared for. During surgery, her bladder was accidentally cut, leading to a painful and complex recovery. She now has to live with a catheter while her body heals.

As many of you know, teachers like Kelly work incredibly hard for modest pay. Missing work for an extended period only adds financial pressure to an already overwhelming situation. Between rising medical bills, time away from the classroom, travel for treatment, and the ongoing care she now needs, the expenses are stacking up quickly.
