Support Kelly & Rob & Their Family During Baby Miles’s Medical Journey
Our hearts are with Kelly & Rob and their beautiful family as they welcome their fifth baby, sweet Baby Miles, into the world. While this should be a time filled with joy and celebration, their journey has been unexpectedly challenging. Baby Miles was born early and has been facing serious medical complications since birth.
Instead of bringing their newborn home right away, Kelly & Rob have been spending long days and sleepless nights at the hospital, advocating for their baby and praying for strength. Watching your child fight through medical challenges is something no parent is ever truly prepared for.
With daily hospital visits and the needs of four other children at home, balancing work has become incredibly difficult. They have had to reduce their hours to be present for their newborn and their family during this critical time.
As a result, the financial strain has grown heavier each day — from travel costs to everyday household expenses.
I am asking for your support to help ease this burden so they can focus on what matters most: Baby Miles healing and the wellbeing of their family. Your donation will go toward:
Travel costs to and from the hospital
Childcare for their other children
Groceries, utilities, and essential household bills
If you’re unable to give financially, please consider sharing this page and keeping this family in your thoughts and prayers. Every act of kindness — whether a donation, a share, or a prayer — makes a difference.
Let’s come together to surround Kelly & Rob and their family with love and support during this incredibly difficult time. Thank you for helping lift some of the weight off their shoulders!!
About Miles:
Our sweet Miles was born with pulmonary atresia, a congenital heart defect in which the pulmonary valve is completely closed. This means blood cannot flow normally from his heart to his lungs to receive oxygen.
Immediately after birth, Miles was started on a medication called prostaglandin to keep an essential blood vessel in his heart — the patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) — open. This temporary opening allowed blood to reach his lungs and do the work that his pulmonary valve could not, giving him time to grow strong enough for the surgery he desperately needed.
On February 20th, Miles reached his milestone goal weight of 2 kilograms. Just four days later, on February 24th, he underwent a successful cardiac catheterization procedure to open his pulmonary valve. We were so hopeful.
Since then, Miles has remained in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit in critical but stable condition. His recovery has been more complicated than we anticipated. He developed a lung infection and blood clots in both of his legs, making his healing process slower and more challenging.
After surgery, doctors attempted to discontinue the prostaglandin to see how his heart would respond. Unfortunately, his oxygen levels dropped, and he had to be placed back on the medication. There is now discussion of a more permanent solution to keep his PDA open, which would require another procedure to place a stent.
In addition to his heart condition, Miles was also born with only one functioning kidney. Thankfully, he has remained stable from a kidney standpoint. We are holding onto hope, knowing that many people live full and healthy lives with one kidney.
For now, the plan is to keep Miles comfortable and supported on a ventilator while we wait for signs of improvement. Our greatest hope is that his heart will adjust to the new blood flow as he continues to grow and heal, allowing us to avoid another surgery and move forward with the next steps — feeding, growing, and finally bringing our baby home.
Miles is a fighter. Every day he shows us strength beyond what we thought possible. We are taking this journey one moment at a time, trusting his medical team and holding onto faith and hope for brighter days ahead.
Thank you for supporting Miles and our family during this incredibly difficult time. Your prayers, love, and generosity mean more to us than we can ever express.
