Support Kelly Bowman's Healing Journey

Kelly Bowman is a really good friend of mine! She's been my best friend and my biggest supporter. She's been through a lot recently and I'm hoping to be able to show her some of the same kind of love and support that she's given me and so many others!

She had a preventative double mastectomy and reconstruction surgery done on March 28 2024. Her sister passed away im 2020 only 36 years young from breast cancer so

she did a test found out that she has the BRCA-2 gene mutation which means she has an increased risk of breast and ovarian cancer (amongst others) by up to 90%. A double mastectomy significantly lowers that risk, she had a lot of problems with her breast so this was the best alternative for her considering!

The surgery itself went really well, They removed all of her breast tissue then reconstructed and put expanders in! Then they reattached her nipples, inserted drains into each incision site, and sutured!

She was out of work for about 6 weeks without a check! We work for a small animal hospital so she does not get paid for being off! She was gonna have her last surgery in September so she could recover from been out of work for so long when she went in for an appointment. One of her expanders was trying to rotate so they wanted to go ahead and do the exchange surgery sooner so she wouldn’t get. infected so she will be having that surgery done, July 15 with some fat grafting.

This is a long and difficult process that's not for the faint of heart but is necessary for her longterm health and well-being. Her entire story is too long to be able to cover all of here!

Kelly loves and spreads kindness, warmth, and generosity everywhere she goes. She is an incredible mom to 3 boys and 1 daughter! She's fiercely independent and determined, and she lives to help others but doesn't ever ask for it for herself. I just hope is just to be able to lessen her stress as much as possible so she can focus on healing!

She has an amazing boyfriend yes he does work and helps her out but in this day and time it takes an army to survive without struggling!

Money from this will be going towards her medical expenses, yes she has medical insurance but she has hospital, surgery bills rolling in like crazy, help with ongoing post-op care, and her living expenses while she is healing. She will be out of work 6 weeks if everything goes ok!
