Dogs have truly been her life’s work—from training and grooming to breeding and supporting dog-focused organizations. This isn’t just her job, it’s who she is. Recently, Kelley received difficult news—she needs shoulder surgery, scheduled for this Friday. After years of effort, she had finally achieved her dream of opening her own training facility. As someone who is self-employed, this surgery means she will be unable to work for the next 4 to 6 months. No work means no income—right at the same time she’s facing significant medical expenses. Because Kelley has a Christian health-sharing plan rather than traditional insurance, the financial responsibility for her surgery and recovery falls entirely on her. Between the medical expenses and the loss of income during her recovery, this will be a significant challenge.
