My friend Kelley is an incredible mom to her 3-year-old son and a dedicated teacher who pours her heart into inspiring her students every day.
Kelley lives with Spinocerebellar Ataxia type 3 (SCA 3), a rare, progressive neurological disorder that affects her balance, coordination, and motor skills. Simple things like walking across her classroom, standing for long periods, or playing with her son at the park have become extremely challenging.
At this point, a manual wheelchair is no longer enough, Kelley doesn’t have the strength and coordination to push herself. What she truly needs is a power wheelchair.
Why a Power Chair Matters!
A power chair would be life-changing for Kelley. It would allow her to:
- Continue teaching with confidence, moving safely around her classroom without fear of falling.
- Be the mom she wants to be, keeping up with her little boy and enjoying precious moments together.
- Save her energy for what matters most: her family and her students, instead of exhausting herself just trying to get around.
How You Can Help…
The cost of a power chair that meets her needs is about $6,000. This includes the chair itself, necessary adjustments, and a professional fitting.
Any amount you can give will make a real difference in Kelley’s life, helping her be there more fully for both her son and her students. If you’re unable to donate, sharing her story would also mean so much.
On behalf of Kelley, her family, and her friends who love her dearly. Mahalo for your kindness, generosity, and support!
