Support Kelcie's Battle Against Breast Cancer
Donation protected
I am the proud mother of this courageous young girl, who is in the fight of her life. Those of you who know and love Kelcie know how very private she is. She kindly asks to respect her privacy and we will do that but some fights we should not fight alone. So with her permission, I am starting this GoFundMe to help her emotionally and financially in her journey as a warrior. With love and support from friends and family, I know she will kick cancer's ass!!!! This is just a chapter in her life not the whole story.
Kelcie found a lump in her breast just before her 32nd birthday, and it took forever, it seemed, to get to where we are today, but here it is. Jan 15th, we received positive results for breast cancer. Met with her oncology surgeon and oncologist on the 17th and decided on her treatment plan. The plan is chemo first, then surgery, then radiation. She has Stage 2-3 invasive ductal carcinoma grade 2 and positive in at least 1 lymph node in the right breast. Still waiting on results for genetic testing BRCA 1 or 2, but it is negative for HERS so far, still need one more biopsy which is scheduled. She is recovering from her power - port placement completed on Jan 31st. She has had multiple MRI's, CT scans, Bone scans, waiting to do PET scans. Alot going on and things change daily as far as plans and tests based on information we are learning as we get results back. So this has been quite a lot of information all at once for Kelcie. It's all been very over whelming however Kelcie is a warrior and she is ready to take this on and fight, and she will not be alone. Power of prayer and positive energy and people surrounding her will give her strength. However, lets give her privacy, lets not bombard her with text and phone calls. Its tough to have to explain to each and every person all the moving parts that are taking place. Just 2 years ago, she tested positive for Autosomal Occult Macular Dystrophy in her right eye, its a genetic disorder which she is losing her vision in. The strength she showed facing that was unbelievable, she is the strongest person I've ever met. Im super proud to be her Mom. She has her moments of tears, but then she just wipes them away and says, "One day at a time, I got this." She is facing the biggest fight and challenge of her life, and we need your support to help us navigate through this.
The journey ahead is going to be long and filled with challenges. She will be undergoing chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation, all of which will require extensive medical care and time off work. Unfortunately, the costs associated with this treatment and the loss of income are overwhelming. On top of the emotional toll of being diagnosed with cancer, she is now facing financial stress that adds to the weight of it all. She works fulltime taking care of patients herself. She has FMLA, but that is unpaid leave, she does not have short term disability. She will need at least 2 days a week off for testing/procedures and 4 weeks off to recover from breast surgery. She has already exhausted her HSA and savings with all the scans and testing, and there is more to come. As a family, we are assisting as well, but as we all know, extensive medical care in the United States is exceptionally expensive even with insurance. That’s why we are turning to you—our friends, family, and community—for support. Whether it’s a small donation, a share of this page, or simply sending kind thoughts and prayers our way, every little bit counts.
Thank you for taking the time to read her story and for considering supporting her during this difficult chapter in her life. We are so grateful for each of you. Feel free to leave her a comment or message. I will update her progress every couple weeks and as things take place. Thank You Again!!!
