On September 20, my husband Keith suffered a devastating fall while mountain biking, tumbling 40-60 feet down a rocky cliffside. He endured hours alone in the dark, injured and unable to call for help, before being found and rushed to the hospital. Keith’s injuries are extensive: a collapsed lung, chest contusions, a lacerated liver, kidney trauma, broken ribs, multiple fractures in both arms and hands, and deep lacerations. He now has pins and plates in his wrist, and faces a long, painful recovery with no chance of regaining full use of his hand. Despite everything, Keith survived without brain injury—a miracle we’re deeply grateful for.
Keith is the heart of our family and our rescue, passionate about the outdoors, wildlife, music, and literature. We’ve built a life together over 19 years, sharing art, travel, and caring for our animals. Now, Keith is in the hospital, unable to work for months, and will need extensive physical, occupational, and psychological therapy. He’ll require help with daily tasks, meals, and personal care. I haven’t been able to work myself due to an assault at my job, and I’m home caring for our rescue animals who miss Keith dearly.
The past few days have been a blur of worry and hope. After days apart while Keith was in the ICU, seeing him upright and sharing our first kiss since the accident was a moment I’ll never forget. We’re asking for help with medical bills, therapy, home health care, basic living expenses, and support for our animals. Any contribution will make a real difference as we navigate this challenging time and work toward Keith’s recovery. Thank you for reaching out and supporting our family.
