Hi! My Name is Keith Purvis, I'm a 23 year old photographer from Greensboro, NC. From a young age, my mother always bought me a disposable camera to keep on hand. After a while capturing life’s beautiful moments became my normal. It was always a way to remember the beauty of life and its ways of struggle and love. I studied abroad in Seville, Spain when I was 15 for digital filmmaking and that’s when I saved up enough for my first dslr camera. In Spain I saw the importance of experiencing new people, culture, ways of life, etc. with an open mind. Since, I have spent most of my time photographing where my passion lies which is skateboarding, but I’ve always looked at my camera as a tool to build the open mindfulness that this world lacks, to see true beauty in this little time we call life and to put my self into other peoples shoes.
Very recently I have been blessed to receive the once in a lifetime opportunity to travel to Ghana for a 14 day heritage excursion in which I will be spending my time documenting, learning and experiencing new ways of life and culture which I consider a part of my heritage. Not only is this an opportunity for me to learn and grow as a photographer and journalist; I'm hoping it will also create a path to my ultimate goal of working abroad for programs that give young people an opportunity travel and broaden their relationship with the world. While this is a great opportunity, it's still out of my reach financially and with the timeframe I have for this trip I need help. If you could please consider donating any amount to help me reach my goal, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank You, Keith.
