First off, thanks to everyone for the thoughts, prayers, and messages. This all started on Monday, 2/17, as I had been fighting the flu type A for four weeks and woke up at 4:30 am not being able to feel my feet and hands, so I woke up my wife, Shannon, to take me to the emergency room. After an X-ray, MRI, and ultrasound, they found I had a very enlarged heart with lots of fluid on it. They began to stabilize me and tried to drain the fluid until they could transfer me to a larger hospital specializing in cardiology that afternoon.
After more tests on Tuesday, they came and told me a normal person's heart pumps at 55, and mine was at 15. At this point, the doctors assumed I had major blockage and scheduled surgery for Thursday morning. When I came to after surgery, the doctor explained that there was no blockage whatsoever, but my heart had been damaged virally due to possibly COVID, pneumonia, and type A flu over the last six months. So now I wear a defibrillator vest 24/7, except for showers, just in case my heart stops for the next three months, and if my heart doesn't heal properly, they will install a defibrillator.
I was very weak and still had so much fluid, but since being released from the hospital, I have felt stronger every day, drained all the fluid off (31 lbs.), and my heart monitor is going off less due to my strict low sodium diet and taking my medication. Due to this medical emergency, being out of work for at least three months, and me being unable to get any disability yet, I am humbly asking anybody to donate to me any amount you can possibly afford as I am in desperate need, and if you cannot afford to, I understand and please keep me in your thoughts, prayers, and meditations. I have been a hard worker my whole life, and it is very hard for me to ask this from anyone.
Peace, Love, Light - Keith
