Help Keiara Hughes Road to Recovery

A Mother, Daughter, and Survivor Needs Your Help

On the early morning of Saturday, March 6, 2026, 24-year-old Keiara Hughes’ life changed forever.

Keiara is a young mother to a beautiful 5-year-old son. Saturday night, she decided to celebrate with friends. It was supposed to be a night of fun.

Instead, it became a nightmare. While out in the Highlands in Louisville, Kentucky, Keiara heard gunshots and ran for safety. As she ran she was struck by a stray bullet in her knee.

As she fled, she was struck by a vehicle. Then she was run over. Twice. The driver didn’t stop. They didn’t call for help. They left her there.

A good Samaritan found Keiara and rushed her to U of L Hospital. When her sister arrived at 4 a.m., Keiara was unidentified in the trauma ICU because she had no ID on her.

The injuries were devastating:

  • Broken pelvis
  • Fractured ribs
  • Spinal injuries
  • Broken leg
  • Gunshot wound to her knee

Keiara can’t talk. She can’t move. She’s already had three surgeries, with more to come.

Doctors say her recovery will take time. She will have to learn how to walk again. She will have to learn how to talk again.

Our family is devastated. But we’re also determined to stand by Keiara and fight for her recovery.

Keiara’s medical bills are mounting. Between surgeries, ICU care, rehabilitation, physical therapy, and the road to recovery ahead.

Beyond medical expenses, Keiara’s son needs care and stability while his mother fights to heal. Our family is doing everything we can, but we need help.

We’re asking for $10,000 to help cover:

  • Ongoing medical treatment and surgeries
  • Rehabilitation and physical therapy
  • Living expenses while Keiara cannot work

Whatever you can give, your contribution will directly support Keiara’s recovery and her son’s care during this unimaginable time.

If you can’t donate, please share this campaign. Share Keiara’s story. Help us reach people who can.
