GOAL REACHED: Thank you everyone who donated or shared this page. We can rest easy knowing the majority of Dio's bills have been covered.

We still have lingering expenses but the big ones have been dealt with now. Feel free to continue to contribute if you're able too, those donations will go towards her other bills or after care for June and I.

We will be saying goodbye on May 15th to Dio.
Thank you again to everyone who was moved by our story or wanted to help. Your generosity means the world to me.

Hello, my name is Kei and I'm opening a GoFundMe for Dio's vet bills.

Dio loves people. She always has and loves showing off her big personality to everyone. She has a classic calico attitude and was my best work buddy. She always kept me company when I would put in long hours on my comics or illustrations and would remind me to take breaks and relax with her.

She was also my husband's registered emotional support animal (ESA). June had Dio since 2015. She has been here for him through major life transitions and heartbreak.

She is truly loved and gave so much love in return.

When we returned from a long international trip for a family engagement, we noticed that Dio wasn't acting like her usual funny self. We scheduled her a vet appointment the next day and thought she might have a UTI. For the exam, antibiotics, urinalysis, and supportive care, that vet total was $500.

We noticed she had stopped eating and she returned to the vet shortly for more supportive care, a blood test, and medication to help stimulate her appetite, which was another $300.

Finally, after a week of barely eating and moving, we took her back and got the final result. After an x-ray and ultrasound, they found a mass in her liver ($500).

That mass was causing an excess of fluid in her lungs and stomach. The doctors suspect it's cancer.

At this stage, even with all the money in the world, there's nothing more we can do other than make her as comfortable as possible. She's a senior cat and we can't ethically put her under any more stress.

This GoFundMe is really just to help cover the cost of her bills and her gentle goodbye euthanasia.

Normally, I'd open commissions or take on extra work before asking for donations for vet bills. I am honestly too devastated to be taking on any more work while I grieve the loss of my second fur child.

Before we left for our trip we had paid to have a mass removed on her spine as well as some dental work which was 2.5K. This has left us in a financial bind coming back from overseas to more unexpected medical costs.

Any support means the world to us.

Update: Dio in Urgent Care
This morning Dio was experiencing some nausea. Her usual vet is closed so we're planning on taking her to urgent care to get some medicine and maybe something to ease her pain during her final days.

Thursday, May 15th will be her last day before she passes peacefully and we're hoping to make the her remaining time here with us as comfortable as possible.

Any changes to the fundraising goal reflex these new expenses. Thank you everyone who donated so far. I'm truly blown away by everyone's generosity. I'm glad we're able to rely on our community during these hard times.
