In the words of Amanda: "Those of you who know my beautiful wife, Keera, know just how incredible she truly is. She is driven, passionate, brilliant, loving, and deeply devoted - not just to her family, but to every role she fills in this world. Keera is a phenomenal mother, wife, daughter, friend, teacher, and human being. Her strength and grace have touched so many lives. Keera was actively teaching her 2nd grade class, excelling in the final stages of her doctorate program with a perfect 4.0 GPA, and preparing to serve as principal for summer school. She was thriving, driven by her love for education and her passion for helping others succeed.
On May 16th, our world shifted. Keera began experiencing severe complications from a rare autoimmune disorder. Since then, she has been courageously battling this illness - a journey that has tested her body in unimaginable ways. She is currently on a ventilator, receiving dialysis, and undergoing several life-saving interventions as a dedicated team of specialists, researchers, and nurses at UPenn work tirelessly to identify the root cause and most effective treatment plan. Despite the unimaginable challenges, Keera continues to fight with everything she has. There have been small but hopeful steps forward and while there have also been setbacks, her progress, though slow, is steady. Her strength is unwavering, and her resilience is inspiring to everyone around her.
We've been deeply moved by the outpouring of love, prayers, and support from our friends, family, and community. Your encouragement means the world to us and helps us to hold onto hope each day. Keep sending your love, strength, and positive energy to Keera and our family. We believe in her, and we that with everyone's love and support, she will keep moving forward on her journey back to health. Thank you everyone from the bottom of our hearts."
This fundraiser is to support Keera's medical costs as well as decrease the financial burden of her wife and children while both Keera and Amanda are out of work.
