Hello Everyone,
My name is Rashawn, and I’m reaching out on behalf of my partner and best friend, Ahkeema Simmons, who means everything in the world to me. After years of unexplained health issues and being misdiagnosed, we recently received a life-altering diagnosis: Keema has a rare congenital condition called a double aortic arch aka vascular ring — an abnormal formation of the aorta that compresses the windpipe and/or esophagus, making it difficult to breathe or swallow.
This diagnosis has brought both relief and urgency. We finally have answers, but the only path forward is surgery, taking place on May 12, 2025— a major procedure that will help Keema breathe and eat freely and reclaim the quality of life she deserves. While we're grateful for the medical team guiding us, the costs associated with surgery, recovery, travel, time off work, and follow-up care are overwhelming.
We've been together for 11 years, and I've watched Keema face every challenge with courage and grace. Now, I’m asking for help from our community — family, friends, and kind-hearted strangers — to help us get through this critical time.
Every donation, no matter the size, helps. Whether you're able to give financially, prayerfully, or simply share this campaign, it will mean the world to us. Thank you for reading, for caring, and for standing by us.
With love and gratitude,
Rashawn Fore
