Our 12-year-old son, Keegan, has always had the heart of a champion. Basketball is more than just a game to him. He loves being on the court, the competition, his teammates, the excitement, and the feeling of giving everything he has until the final buzzer. Whether his team is winning or losing, he plays with determination. He fights for every possession and never wants to give up.
As his parents, we have always been so proud watching him play. But now, at just 12 years old, our son is facing a battle we never imagined he would have to fight. He has been diagnosed with leukemia.
In what felt like an instant, our lives changed. Instead of thinking about his next basketball game, school, or spending time with his friends, we are now sitting beside him in the hospital, talking with doctors, watching blood counts, undergoing tests, and preparing for the difficult treatment ahead.
No parent is ever prepared to hear that their child has cancer. But when I look at my son, I still see the same young basketball player who refuses to quit. I see the same determination. The same courage. The same heart of a champion. This will be the biggest game of his life and this time, he is fighting for something much greater than a trophy or a championship. He is fighting for his life.
The road ahead will not be easy. He will face intensive treatments, long days and nights in the hospital, medications, blood tests, transfusions, and many difficult moments. There will be days when he feels strong and days when simply getting through the day will be a victory. But he will not fight alone. His family will be beside him for every treatment, every hospital stay, every difficult night, and every step toward recovery. We will fight alongside him until the day we can watch him walk back onto that basketball court again.
We are asking our family, friends, community, and anyone touched by our son's story to
join Team Keegan. Your support will help our family manage the financial challenges that come with his treatment, including medical expenses not covered by insurance, medications, transportation, hospital stays, meals, and the loss of income that can come from putting everything else aside to be with our son. If you are able to donate, no amount is too small. If you cannot donate, sharing his story and keeping him in your thoughts means more to our family than we can express.
Our son has spent years learning that when the game gets tough, you don't walk off the court. You keep playing. You keep fighting. You believe in your teammates. And you never give up. Now, we are his team. And together, we are going to help him fight this. One day. One treatment. One victory at a time. Our dream is simple: to see our son healthy again, surrounded by his friends and family, with a basketball in his hands and his whole life ahead of him. The final buzzer hasn't sounded. His fight is just beginning. Please join us in helping our young champion beat leukemia and get back on the
court.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your prayers, your support, your
generosity, and for standing with our son and our family during the most difficult time of our lives.
