My name is Cameka and I created this fundraiser to help my beautiful friend, Kedisha, raise money for healthcare treatments and basic living expenses as she fights breast cancer. Kedisha and I met at work in 2017 in Kingston, Jamaica and she has always shown resilience and strength to rise above her circumstances. She is one of the strongest people I know.
Jamaica’s economy is at its worst right now as the less fortunate are struggling to find food. Kedisha is experiencing financial hardship during her struggle of living with cancer and there are little to no resource to help.
If you are able to give to help Kedisha so that she can overcome this tragedy, I would deeply appreciate it. Every little bit helps. Thank you for your support in advance.
Here is a bit of her story in her own words:
My name is Kedisha Rowe, and I am a 39-year-old mother of two and a proud grandmother of one. My journey through life has been one of resilience and determination. Growing up with little guidance and love, I faced many struggles, but I held my head high and persevered.
At a young age, I became a mother and had to leave school without any formal qualifications. Determined to improve my circumstances, I began working as a cleaner at the Jamaica Defense Force (JDF) and attended evening classes to earn my qualifications. This hard work paid off, and I was promoted to the role of Receptionist. I also completed small courses at the University of the West Indies to further develop my skills.
A life-changing opportunity came when I secured a job on a cruise ship. However, just one month into this new chapter, I received the devastating news that I had breast cancer. I returned home and began the difficult journey of treatment, which included numerous tests such as MRIs, CT scans, and a biopsy, culminating in a single mastectomy.
Despite regular hospital visits becoming a part of my new normal, I have continued to fight this battle. However, I have recently been in constant pain, which has left me unable to work there are more surgical procedure to be done such as bilateral (oophorectomy) removal of my ovaries. My medical bills have become overwhelming, and I am now facing the challenge of undergoing another surgery and further testing, which I cannot afford due to my unemployment.
I am humbly seeking your support to help me cover these medical expenses and get the treatment I desperately need. Any contribution, no matter how small, will go a long way in helping me fight this battle.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
