Help Keacean Phillips Save Her Restaurant
Donation protected

Closing the doors of her restaurant would be a crippling blow personally and financially for Keacean, as she has invested an immense amount of time and money and overcame many obstacles while growing her business. She started her business as a food cart and grew to the point where she opened this small sit-down restaurant at 441 N Killingsworth in Portland. Keacean has proven to be strong, incredibly hardworking, and persistent as she has navigated the sometimes overwhelming challenges small Black-owned businesses encounter. In addition, she has been doing this while being the sole provider for her two boys and navigating the physical and psychological trauma of domestic abuse. At this point in her journey, Keacean needs her community. And the community needs her and her business.

For many patrons, Jamaican Homestyle Cuisine and its charismatic owner are treasured sun-shiny bits of the Caribbean here in the rainy Pacific Northwest. Keacean has been providing a bit of much-needed diversity and community through her delicious offerings of oxtails, curried goat, jerk chicken, rice and peas, and fried plantains - to name a few. It would be a tremendous loss to our community if Jamaican Homestyle Cuisine became a victim of COVID-19.
Please help our sister save her business for her livelihood, her children, and the community. Donate what you can and please share this request as you are able.
As the Jamaican saying goes - “one one coco full basket” - so with our collective effort we can help Jamaican Homestyle Cuisine survive this period and continue to flourish as a hub for the Caribbean community and a gustatory ambassador of Jamaica here in Portland, Oregon. Your support is much appreciated. Bless up!
