Just in case this reaches anyone beyond those who know us personally—
Hi, my name is Lesley Berry, and I’m from Maine. Over the past few weeks, our family has been trying to come to terms with something incredibly painful: our beloved dog, KC, has been diagnosed with Osteosarcoma—bone cancer.
We’re absolutely devastated. On April 17th, when it was confirmed KC’s leg broke unexpectedly, we learned the heartbreaking news that he most likely had bone cancer so we had to make the difficult decision to amputate his front right leg. The surgery alone cost nearly $7,000, and it’s only the beginning of what’s to come.
We never imagined we’d be in this position—facing so many hard choices while trying to find the strength (and funds) to give KC the best possible care. We’ve had to come up with a lot of money very quickly, and honestly, it’s been overwhelming.
I’ve seen how people show up for others during hard times, and with all my heart, I hope it’s okay to ask for help now. I like to believe that if you’ve given love, kindness, or good into the world, it’s okay to lean on others when life gets heavy.
If you’re able to donate to KC’s GoFundMe, it would mean the world to us. And if you can’t—which I completely understand—please consider sharing the link. Even just helping it reach one more person could make all the difference.
KC is truly one of a kind. He’s been our rock, our joy, and our gentle giant. We love him more than words can say, and we’re doing everything we can to fight for more time with him.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. Your kindness and support—of any kind—means more than you know.
With love,
The Berry Family
