UPDATE! We have found a new home!!!

We have secured a home (mostly)! It is also, still in Windham so no changing schools or any additional uprootation.

In order to move in we need $2000 for Security and $500 for our CMP to clear and restart service. Than we are good to move in. From there we will need to still be collecting home items, getting clothes & toys for the girl's but the HARD stuff is almost to an end. Any and all support is incredibly helpful and deeply appreciated!

Hey all - I am Kayty, a single mom owning a nonprofit supporting those experiencing homelessness and drug use. I am not one to ask for help, and think it is especially cringy to make a gofundme for yourself - but here I am, homeless with kids and no one to support me; I am the one who hold things together in my life. So really this ask is for them & to keep things as stable as I can.

Last Thursday (7.17.25) the fire system in my apartment triggered -flooding our entire house and making in "inhabitable".

What has been done?

-First I reached out to Red Cross (well, they reached out to me) - because there was no physical fire they cannot help.

-I have section 8 and have reached out. They are canceling any further payments. They cannot cover anything in the interim - they will cover rent and security and renew my voucher when I find housing.

-I have contacted realty 2000 who may have a unit, and they may take Section 8 the two are talking tomorrow (7.23.25)

-I have spoke to rapid rehousing who can support anything section 8 cannot (I THINK)

-I also left a message with opportunity alliance for their like save from homelessness program.

-GA will only help with food that is frozen and needs to be cooked (we are living out of hotels currently)

-They (GA) have a clothing closet we will look at tomorrow. The damage was primarily in the girls' room. Madisynn is 7 and Anastaysha is 4 and they lost literally everything. - I have a friend putting in Maine Needs requests for them.

-They (GA) will not help with lodging at all.

**NOTE: folks keep telling me that my landlords are responsible for putting us in a hotel or what not. They got me a storage unit & moved my large items there. They also got us a room the night of the flood. They are pretty irritated with me and they aren't doing that. I plan to call Pine Tree but i can't get blood from a rock.**

The good news - I didn't need to hire movers which was a HUGE fiscal lift I could not handle, however this is what this has looked like financially:

~Lodging at a mediocre hotel with a pool Friday to Tuesday at $1,100 ($50 incidental holds x2 cause I had to book an extra night ince I had funds, one has been returned one has not)

~Hotel for Tonight (Tues) and tomorrow (Wed) $300 hotel is just basics no refrigerator microwave or pool

~$150 in food orders and another $80 in fast food

~$100 cause OF COURSE I locked my keys in my fkn trunk ‍♀️

What is still Needed

+ Thursday - Saturday I am bringing my oldest home and plan to stay there cause CT is cheaper then Maine in the hotel category ($370 + $50 incidentals = $420) Hotel has outdoor pool for kids and full breakfast, we are frequent visitors here.

+Lodging for Saturday -Monday somewhere in Maine, possible longer depending on housing - we may need to start looking into shelters at this point. ($350-$370 depending on amenities and $50 incidental hold)

+food $300ish

+Fuel from tomorrow (6.23.25) through next Monday (6.28.25) $150 ish

+this DOES NOT INCLUDE laundry, clothes for the girls, etc.

Total Still needed $1,290+

For now this is all I have for info, I am taking every resource I can and calling, I am super resourceful and can pull off a lot, but this is a load I was in no way ready to endure and my poor girls lost all their toys and stuffies, except for a few bikes/roller skates.

I work my ass off, I have overcame so much - DV, Mental Health, Substance use a house fire in 2019 and all with little to no familial help - I have nobody.

I am asking for help, we still need so much and we are so poor.
