Kaysey's Fight Against Acute T-lymphoblastic leukemia

My name is Angela Barrow; I am setting up this page to help Kaysey Brabaw, one of the best people I know, my best friend, co worker and auntie KIKI to my 2 children. Back in the end of November she had been sick with what she thought was just a cold that lingered on to be bronchitis, pnemonia and then the worst thing we could imagine ALL (Acute lymphoblastic leukemia) in mid January. This entire journey started on January 2 when she went to urgent care in Midland because she was not able to breathe. They took her by ambulance to the Midland Hospital were she had many tests, labs and a chest tube to help drain the fluid around her right lung; due to the pnemonia. On January 8th she was released and told that she would most likely be back. During this week she continued to live what she called a normal life; working, taking care of her family etc. While not feeling well and getting worse everyday she noticed some labs of the fluid around her lung came back and it was Acute T-lymphoblastic leukemia/lymphoma (ALL). Scared and alarmed; no call from doctors or the hospital of these results, and on day 4 of being released she was back into the Emergency room due to limited breathing. The lymph nodes had doubled in size causing fluid to build back up in the right lung causing it to collapse. Released again on January 8th and back in January 16th with her breathing significantly worse and her heart rate very elevated, everything is shutting down at this point. She was miserable, feeling like she was suffocating in her own body. During this stay she was finally getting some answers and doctors are communicating back and forth with U of M. Dr. Bixby, who specializes in this type of cancer, had been overseeing her stuff at Midland for the past 4 or 5 days trying to get a game plan before she was transported to U of M. At this point she had no idea this was even going on behind the scenes. On January 18th she was finally transported by ambulance to U of M. She spent 2 solid days with non stop testing and biopsies. Once all of these test were completed and Dr.Bixby had all the information he needed he was able to start a fast paced chemo regimen on January 22nd. Her journey to being cancer free has officially started. We are so thankful for Dr.Bixby and the staff at U of M to take on this rare case and help Kaysey to live on, as she is only 44 years old with a husband of almost 15 years, 2 children; Chloe 11 and Paisley 8. The donations will be going towards monthly household bills, medical and all the traveling back and forth to U of M while she is unable to work during this time. Anything at all will be appreciated! PLEASE keep her in your thoughts and prayers and all of our families while we try to navigate this new normal. I will continue to keep treatment, progress and updates available as I can!❤️ THANKS WITH MUCH LOVE, THE BARROWS❤️
