Help Kayla Recover After Emergency Brain Surgery

Hi, my name is Randilee, and I'm fundraising for my best friend Kayla. The last couple of weeks have been pretty scary for her. She underwent emergency brain surgery to remove a dangerously fast-growing mass. A week prior, she started experiencing intense headaches and vision loss. She barely made it to the ER in time—suffering multiple seizures just minutes after arriving. Doctors contacted her neurologist in Omaha and moved quickly. The tumor—nicknamed “Nola”—had grown from 9mm to over 23mm by the time it was removed.

Kayla’s recovery has been challenging. She’s lost feeling in her left hand, partial movement in her left arm and leg, and she’s now coping with a speech stutter. She’s been told she can’t drive for at least three months, though she’s already trying everything she can to stay active and independent. That’s who she is—resilient, resourceful, and always pushing forward.

She doesn't have health insurance, so therapy and rehab are all out-of-pocket. Disability support won't be available until fall, and even then, nothing is guaranteed. She is in the process of talking to a disability lawyer, hoping to get approved. What she needs now is just a little help covering essential care and living costs until she’s back on her feet—literally.
