UPDATE 7/18: We are almost to our goal! Kayla has rocked the program in Sicily and made amazing contacts. She continues to sing for the next couple of weeks there after having done a bang-up job singing Musetta in La Boheme. She is now being coached in some new repertoire that those "in the know" feel is appropriate for her voice. She will have opportunity to perform these new arias in concerts given for the Sicilian communities. She will perform Lisa in "La Sonnambula" by Bellini next. So, two more weeks there and thanks to all of you!
Our goal was $5,000. We got her to $3,800 by all of your generous donations. It's going to be rough on her to come back with little in the bank, so if willing, she'd be grateful for just a little more help. I hesitate to ask, but quite frankly, I care deeply for Kayla and believe our support is well worth the sacrifice. Thank you for considering!

Kayla Wilfong is on the brink of launching her European operatic career, and she has been offered a remarkable opportunity to participate in the Mediterranean Opera Studio in Sicily this summer. This program is a crucial step for Kayla, as it will provide her with the exposure and experience needed to establish herself in the European opera scene. The funds raised will cover essential expenses such as tuition and travel, enabling her to seize this chance without financial barriers.
Kayla's dedication to opera is evident in her recent performances, including her role as Santuzza in Cavalleria Rusticana in April 2025. Her talent was also showcased in the debut of the opera "Waterfall," composed by Italian-American Lisa Scola Prosek, where she performed as the main character. Additionally, Kayla will be singing the soprano solo in Beethoven's 9th Symphony with the Nova Vista Symphony, further demonstrating her exceptional abilities and potential.
Kayla holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Voice Performance/Opera from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and is a graduate of the San Francisco Girls Chorus. She has traveled throughout the United States and Europe, performing in various programs at some of the most impressive venues and churches. Moreover, she conducts a successful Vocal Studio in the San Francisco Bay Area and is an internationally award-winning voice teacher.
When Kayla goes to Sicily, she will be performing as Musetta, one of the four title roles in Puccini's famous opera La Bohème. She will be working with renowned conductors and faculty from the Curtis Institute, the Metropolitan Opera, the Royal Covent Garden Opera in London, as well as professional opera houses in Italy and Germany. With the program starting in mid-June, the urgency is clear. The funds are needed immediately to secure her place and ensure she can embark on this transformative journey. Supporting Kayla means investing in a promising talent who is poised to make a significant impact in the world of opera.
