I am reaching out to you with a heavy heart to share some difficult news. My best friend of 25 years, Kayla Susick, has recently been diagnosed with aggressive and fast moving breast cancer. It has already spread to her lymph nodes and she is fighting for her life.

This news has shaken us to our core, but in the face of this daunting challenge, Kayla is displaying remarkable strength, courage, and resilience.

Kayla is not just a friend; she is a beacon of light in all of our lives. She has been an elementary school teacher for 14 years and has made a huge impact on many children's lives. Not only is she a full time teacher, but she is also a solo parent to twin toddlers River and Marcella. She has never been one to ask for help but, as the sole provider for her family, she is going to need all the help she can get.

If you know Kayla, you know that being a mom has always been her biggest dream. It is hard to put into words how much she wanted and loves her children but she now faces the truly terrifying and very real possibility that they might lose their only parent to a disease that makes a late-stage diagnosis a true fight to live.
