Support Kayla on her transplants journey

Kayla Daniel is a vibrant and outgoing young woman. She has a heart of gold and is always willing to help others. Her smile brings light to any room, and her goofy sense of humor brightens the gloomiest of days. While Kayla has battled with health issues for more than half of her life, her courage and strength in the face of adversity is nothing short of inspiring.

Kayla was diagnosed with kidney disease in March of 2023. She was 31 at the time she received this diagnosis. Since then, her health has progressively declined. Today, at the age of 33 years old, Kayla is now in stage 5 kidney failure, on dialysis, and in need of a new kidney. In addition to her kidney disease, Kayla has also been battling with type 1 diabetes since she was a teenager. Over the last several years, Kayla has received care from countless doctors in an attempt to stabilize her diabetes with very little success. This has caused extensive damage to her kidneys. It is because of this that her doctors are recommending that Kayla receive both a pancreas and kidney transplant.

The recommended kidney/pancreas transplant would be life-changing for Kayla and would immensely improve her quality of life. It is recommended that Kayla receive her kidney transplant from a living donor, as this would increase her longevity and significantly decrease the wait time for the transplant to take place (which is currently over 5 years). While we are searching for a living donor and the availability of a pancreas for the transplants, she is also in need of financial assistance to help with rent, utilities, food, transportation to doctor's appointments, insurance premiums, and medical prescriptions/supplies. Kayla has attempted to apply for disability several times over the years and has been denied each time despite her vastly declining health (which has also impacted her eyesight and caused partial blindness). Any assistance you can provide would be tremendously appreciated. We also hope to raise some money for the living donor as we understand that they will be out of work during their recovery.
