Support Kayla & Clint After Triplet Loss
Donation protected
As many of you may know, my sister Kayla and brother-in-law, Clint, were pregnant with triplet girls and were due in October. They were excited about adding to their family, especially after Clint's bout with cancer and their IVF attempts. Kayla, Clint, and their families had begun to dream about the future of the 3 girls' lives.
But, on July 7th, Kayla was t-boned in a car accident where the other driver ran a red light. The driver was in a vehicle that was hauling a cement mixer and hit Kayla's driver's door directly. Kayla was then taken to the hospital to not only look at her injuries in the accident, but to check on the triplets.
During appointments following the accident, the doctor noted that the placenta for Baby C (Mackenzie) had a leak, and they put Kayla on bed rest in an attempt to slow down the damage that had been done to the placenta. At Kayla's next follow-up appointment, the doctor also noticed that the placenta for Babies A & B (Alyson & Finley) was also lacking fluid.
The hope and goal of the doctors was to keep Kayla resting as much as possible until the triplets would be considered viable at 22.5 weeks along. Kayla and Clint rested and did everything that they could to keep the triplets growing.
In the early morning of July 21st, Kayla began to have contractions and went to the hospital. Due to the medical risks and complications, there was not anything that could be done to stop labor. Kayla then delivered all 3 girls at just 20 weeks along in her pregnancy. She also had to have a medical procedure due to one of the placentas being stuck. Unfortunately, Alyson, Finley, and Mackenzie had a short life and passed away shortly after birth in their parents' arms.
Kayla, Clint, and Bentley have been navigating what life looks like without having the triplets. Many people have asked how they can help, and a tangible way for others to help is through finances. Kayla and Clint are walking through medical bill costs, cremation service costs, all that comes with IVF treatment, and much more.
Kayla and Clint are so grateful for the support of their family and friends, but as their sister, I wanted to find a way to ensure that they had everything that they could need as they navigate this great loss and grief. Any help that you could provide is appreciated. If there is another way that you would like to support the Houk Family at this time, you can also reach out to me and I would be happy to connect to find the best way for you to help them in this journey.
Thank you for your consideration!
